Debbie Michael 1950-2026

It is with heavy hearts that the members of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 60 and the Post 60 family mourn the loss of our beloved Auxiliary sister and friend Debbie Michael. Debbie wasn’t just a member, she was family. This year marked Debbie’s 50th year with the ALA! She joined in June 1976 and was a paid up for life member.

Debbie’s love for veterans and the military came from her brother Charles who served in the United States Air Force.
On the Unit level Debbie held every office except for Treasurer and chaired numerous committees. Her favorite committees were Rhododendron Girls State and Junior Activities which all her granddaughters have been members of. She held the positions of 10th District President, Vice President and Children & Youth Chairman.

Before fulfilling her dream of becoming the Department President Debbie served as 1st Vice and 2nd Vice while holding various committee chair positions. Debbie’s theme for the 2023-2024 year was “Let’s Be Patriotic” and her was moto was “With Love and Gratitude We Support our Military and Honor our Veterans”.

Debbie always took immense pleasure in volunteering with an organization that loves and cares about the military and veterans like she did. We could always depend on her to lend a helping hand wherever needed and to make beautiful decorations for our Post 60 Legion Family events.
It was truly an honor to have had the opportunity to work alongside such a special lady who would graciously share her knowledge of the Auxiliary and always blessed us with her beautiful smile.

We are forever grateful for all the wonderful memories that we shared with Debbie. She will be tremendously missed by our American Legion Post 60 Family. Our hearts go out to Debbie’s family and friends. We pray for comfort and healing to all who loved her. Fly High beautiful Angel, we know that you are happy with the love of your life Kat. We will always love you!
